Transcend 2G Cf Card 120X

Not Reliable AT ALL !!!
Bought a 2GB Transcend CF card from [...] when I bought my Canon 40D SLR. After one round of use, non of my PC at home can recognize this CF card anymore.

Not wanting to upset the balance of the universe, I was a good Nikon user and used only the brands/types of CF memory cards the manufacturer recommended, thinking that stepping an inch off this list meant stepping off the edge of the world. But seeing the price of the cards on this list, and running the risk of getting one of those infamous counterfeits on eBay, put me in a quandry: I needed more memory (who doesn’t?) but I didn’t have the money (who does?). I decided to risk the unthinkable and looked beyond ‘the list’.

I did an open-ended ‘net search on price vs. features in a CF card, sat back, and let the web do my walking. The best combination was the Transcend line, which I had never heard of. I narrowed my next search to the brand, and learned that this company had been making memory modules for a wide variety of applications for years, and had engineered a product capable of working under extended temperatures and other environmental conditions. Their reputation among industry professionals was golden.

So I figured what’s the worst that can happen? Would putting one of their CF cards in my camera leave me with a pile of D70 ashes? I closed my eyes, gritted my teeth, rolled the dice and hit a 7: no compatibility issues, excellent performance, and lots of pretty pictures. (And my camera is still in one piece.)

I took over a thousand pictures in three days (Arnold Classic) on that chip. Every one of them recorded and transferred flawlessly.

Methinks Nikon needs to update their list.

No regrets!
I have used Transcend cards for over five years now! I will continue to use them. They are not quite as fast as some of the other brands, but they’re FAR from slow.

Would Pass On this Item
I bought this because my friend owned it and it worked good for her. Mine came and sometimes maybe 2 out of the 200 pictures I shot that day turn out corrupted.

I needed some more CF as some of my previous stuff just wasn’t fast enough to write from the buffer of my Canon DSLR. Shots were being lost as I would fill up the buffer, and then have to wait for it to be written to CF. Not all CF’s are the same, even if they say the same speed (ex. 80X).
Additionally the same card can have different results in different camera’s, if you need the speed, its worth the research. This card isn’t the fastest on the list but its in the Top10 (which at that point the differences are very small) and had a great price point compared to some others.

Transcend for Camera Use
The 2GB Transcend Ultra-Speed 120X Compact Flash card is in use in my Sony DSC-R1 digital camera. I have found it to be very fast in capturing the images and trouble free.

Value and Speed
An excellent value in CF cards. Price is right , and speed is great. No failures or troubles with these cards. Performance of a much more expensive brand.

Have had this for a year. Put a few thousand images on it and it has never failed. Write time seems plenty fast enough for my use. Transfer time is noticeably faster than either of my sandisk II cards. I own six CF cards for my Canon XT of different brands and I have no complaints about any of them. Even bought some of them used. They have all performed as expected.

Why Pay More?
Unless you have an EOS 1d Mark2s or something, I’m not sure that using these “lesser” cards would have any impact on anything.
